Dialogic Consideration - What is a Dialogic Culture - 21st September 2023

What makes a culture genuinely dialogic, rather than merely one that schedules dialogue? This Dialogic Consideration session from September 2023 takes up that question directly, probing the conditions, assumptions, and shared practices that distinguish a dialogic culture from surface-level conversation.

Recorded on 21st September 2023, this Dialogic Consideration session invites participants to examine what it actually means for a culture to be dialogic. Rather than treating dialogue as a technique applied within an existing culture, the session explores how culture itself is shaped, sustained, and transformed through dialogic practice. The discussion turns on the nature of the container: what structural, relational, and attitudinal conditions must be present for dialogue to become a recurring and trusted feature of collective life. Participants are invited to reflect on their own organisational or community contexts, testing their assumptions against the questions the session raises. The session sits within the Academy's broader Dialogic Consideration series, which uses short, focused conversations to deepen practitioner understanding of core concepts.
