A Participative Webinar with Jane Ball

Jane Ball

"The offender re-experiences their journey from arrest to court appearance, sentencing, and incarceration." Jane Ball co-created the Offender Resettlement Journey, where an offender walks through their story before 40 to 80 people who played significant parts. This webinar explores her innovative practice.

Jane Ball has co-created some of the most innovative dialogic processes in criminal justice. The Offender Resettlement Journey brings together an offender with 40 to 80 people who have played significant parts in their life: police, court officials, prison staff, parole officers, family. The offender physically walks through their journey from arrest through sentencing, incarceration, and re-entry, engaging with these players along the way. Those present recognise their part in the story and can participate in identifying changes needed in the system. Ball is known for her insightful facilitation and ability to help participants share experiences under challenging conditions. As a founding figure of the Academy with over 20 years of international experience, she has worked across social, commercial, and governmental contexts. In this participative webinar, cohosts Nancy Dixon and Linda Ellinor interview Ball about her thinking before the group reflects on her experience together.
