A Participative Webinar with Glenn Aparicio Parry
Glenn Aparicio Parry
"Is it possible to come up with an original thought?" Glenn Aparicio Parry organised thirteen years of dialogues between Native American elders and Western scientists. His work challenges assumptions about where wisdom comes from.
Glenn Aparicio Parry organised the Language of Spirit Conferences from 1999 to 2011, bringing Native American elders and Western scientists together in dialogue to explore fundamental questions about the cosmos. His book 'Original Thinking' emerged from these groundbreaking conversations, challenging Western assumptions about progress, time, and the nature of thought itself. Parry asks uncomfortable questions: is original thinking possible, or are we always drawing on what came before? What happens when indigenous wisdom meets quantum physics in genuine dialogue? His work suggests that many of our cultural pathologies stem from habits of thought embedded in language itself. In this participative webinar, cohosts Linda Ellinor and Nancy Dixon interview Parry about his background and work. The session offers practitioners insight into dialogue at the intersection of scientific and indigenous worldviews, where fundamental assumptions must be examined rather than taken for granted.
