About Whitney Barton

In her previous role as Dialogue and Business Practices Administrator with Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC), Whitney was responsible for leading efforts to embed dialogue into the way VADOC conducts business, from new employee training to high-level decision making. She has been most impacted by the empowerment that comes from creating spaces where people, no matter what title or rank they have, feel their voices are important and valued. Whitney has seen first-hand, the way dialogue can transform organizational culture on a large scale.

Whitney became one of the first Accredited Professional Dialogue Practitioners (APDP) after completing the first generation of Professional Dialogue in Practice: A Different Way of Working. As she has continued her work as an APDP, she has become very passionate and inspired by leading multi-stakeholder dialogues where people with drastically different perspectives are able to collaborate and produce truly collective works.
