Working with triggers

Helena Wagener

What happens in the body the moment a dialogue goes wrong? Helena Wagener brings somatic awareness and facilitation practice together to examine how triggers arise, what they signal, and how practitioners can work with them rather than around them.

Helena Wagener is a dialogue practitioner and coach whose work sits at the intersection of embodied awareness and facilitation craft. In this talk, she focuses on the phenomenon of being triggered in practice: the physiological and emotional responses that arise when a session becomes charged, when a participant says something destabilising, or when a facilitator's own history enters the room. Wagener draws on somatic approaches to help practitioners recognise trigger responses in real time, distinguish between personal reactivity and professional signal, and develop the capacity to stay present under pressure. The session is oriented toward practitioner development, offering both a conceptual frame and practical tools for working more consciously with the moments that challenge composure and clarity.
