Recorded on 19th July 2021, this session gathers dialogue practitioners and peacebuilding specialists to examine how generative dialogue functions in contexts of serious social conflict. Where conventional negotiation focuses on positions and agreements, generative dialogue attends to the quality of listening and the conditions under which new thinking becomes possible between divided parties. The session draws out practical questions about what it takes to hold a container across lines of deep mistrust, and what practitioners must be prepared for when dialogue enters fragile or post-conflict settings.
