Generative Dialogue on Peace-building - February 7th 2022

Can dialogue do what negotiation and mediation alone cannot? This February 2022 session brings together practitioners to explore generative dialogue as a distinct approach to peace-building in communities and societies marked by deep division.

Where conventional peace processes focus on agreement and compromise, generative dialogue attends to the quality of thinking and listening that makes durable understanding possible. This session examines how dialogue practice applies in community and societal contexts where conflict runs deep and trust is fragile. Participants explore what distinguishes generative dialogue from other conflict-resolution methods, and what conditions allow it to take hold in fractured settings. In this participative webinar, cohosts Nancy Dixon and Linda Ellinor guide the conversation before participants reflect in small groups on what peace-building through dialogue might mean in their own contexts.
